🜙 Player Information

🜙 Character Information

⤛ Name: Allen Walker
⤛ Appearance: Link 1, link 2. White hair, pale complexion, grey eyes (normally), blood red plated and clawed left arm with intricate tattooing up his shoulder. Bright red curse mark on left side of face.
⤛ Canon: D.Gray-man
⤛ Age: 16
⤛ Race: God-blessed Dhampir (half-elf), though he is unaware as of yet that is what he is. Due to his arm, the abnormal aspects of him (eyes, complexion, strength/constitution) has made people further suspect draconic aspects of him and believe him either half-dragon or cursed, not dhampir, And as an orphan and having a master that decided to keep those truths from him lest he be influenced one way or another, he has had no reason to really question what he is, believing even the bloodlust that threatens to rise in him to be part of whatever sort of draconic nature he has.
⤛ Racial trait: Mountain Blood
⤛ Race details: Gold eyes when angered/emotional, the same as when the 14th awakens in him in canon, otherwise they're pale grey/silver. Skintone about as pale as he is in canon, same slender build and average (5'8.5") height that now puts him slightly under average.
⤛ Choice: Devotion
⤛ Abilities: Innocence: No longer Innocence but still a holy weapon he was born with. From his birth he was blessed by Atromo with a left arm bearing a superhuman strength, though he is unaware of the reasons for his arm and further potential for power within it, as people around him believe he is of draconic descent or curse given the plated and clawed nature of it and he has been given no reason to believe otherwise. After he was cursed and the blessing fully woke and activated, he has been able to learn how to invoke his arm into a large claw (his Crown Clown claw even if it lacks the rest of his canon invocation, as he is older and more trained in this universe). It is still unstable and taxing on him and he doesn't fully understand himself and its purpose. It has the potential to unlock further with the forms it gains from canon (Crown Clown, the Sword of Exorcism) but he will need to become more in touch with himself and the nature of his existence to do that. (AC rewards, quests/plots, etc.)

It is a magical weapon, holy in nature and giving him a superhuman strength. He is also very quick and nimble with it in its inactive form after years of training under his master with it.

Cursed eye: Due to failed attempt to bring his deceased adoptive father back in a blood magic ritual, he reached into the shadow realm and was cursed for it. His left eye, marked in stark red from where he was clawed and burnt like a brand, keeps him further tied to that realm and allows him to see shadow creatures and possessed beings. While not able to fully look into the shadow realm, he can see when inhabitants from it pass over into the mortal realm, including those usually not visible to the living.

It is a living curse, tied to the creature that originally cursed him, and can grow in strength over time if he lets himself step further into the shadow realm, or if he further attempts to practice dark arts.

⤛ Skills:

All skills are the same he has in canon (blending super early/pre-canon with some later canon elements since I have him traveling with Cross slightly longer and never reaching the Order before he died), just for different reasons due to different aspects of his lineage and training. The one later canon skill he does NOT have is swordsmanship as his arm has not evolved to that state. He's swung a sword before in his training, but is by no means good at it and relies on his arm, nor does he carry one.

» Circus acrobat agility/"nimble pest"
» Above normal human strength and stamina, due both to rigorous training and his inhuman left arm, and ingame now due to being a dhampir
» Limited martial arts skills. He has a scrapper mentality and combines various fighting styles he's been exposed to while traveling with his master.
» Ambidextrous
» Excellent night vision
» Incredibly well-versed in inhabitants of the shadow realm and demons and how to hunt and purify them. Well-versed in monster lore in general as well, to a lesser degree, as Black Priests might get called upon to aid in monster slaying in general. While in canon he needs very little specialized knowledge on akuma to fight them, which even so he is one of the more thoughtful individuals able to explain their existence, given the different nature of the creatures and how to fight them here, he would need to be more shrewd and have an actual toolkit, not just solely relying on the raw force of his Innocence. Cross, a not god-blessed Black Priest and a much more scholarly and shrewd individual in both worlds, would have needed to train him in this, not just give him battle (and life skills) training. While he would be a barely-graduated apprentice still with a lot to learn, he would have spent nearly 6 years in intensive training on the road with the man and gained a lot of experience. It would make him a bit more like a Witcher in terms of his knowledge and toolkit he would bring, just given the different nature of the things he lives to destroy. This would include physical and lore knowledge, as well as magical and alchemical where needed in. But he'd be less adept at that, and better suited against creatures he can fight directly with holy power.

⤛ Personality:
Conviction: A protagonist through and through. At his core Allen Walker has an unwavering sense of conviction and purpose even in uncertain times: "don't stop, keep walking" is his iconic mantra from his adoptive father.
Gentle/Kind: Forever marveled as a gentle and kind person despite the problems it brings him and the rough circumstances he's in, and despite his prickly and temperamental shounen core, he is the most fundamentally kind person who will sacrifice his own well being to care for others.
Duplicitous: However, he is also very secretive and wears many masks that keep people at arms-length about certain aspects of himself. It is not in malicious intent, but both a reflex as someone used to emulating a persona (wearing the "mask of Mana" as a coping mechanism and homage to his deceased adoptive father both) and not wanting to burden others with his troubles. As such he wears a brilliant and kind smile and will attempt to bolster others with it, or be a very proper and polite-seeming gentleman (even if he's a vagabond orphan who's a little rough around the edges at heart). He does this to make the lives of people around him easier, and ironically himself, though he would not admit to or see it as such. He is self-aware of it, occasionally thinking to himself in a self-narrative way, "I said those words like a charm."
Stubborn: 1000% a shounen hero at heart, he is intensely stubborn and will stare down absolute defeat and the impossible until he somehow finds a way to thwart it. It's a huge flaw and strength both. Even with those he is gentle towards and kind with, he will be very stubborn about the wall he keeps between them as well. He's very good at being both subtle in how stubbornly he will keep himself guarded, and in how bluntly he can hold his ground in more combative situations.
Martyr-syndrome: A huge flaw and strength both that combines with his gentle nature, Allen admits very early in canon that he believes himself a small man. Not a hero or anything noble: he wants to help anyone he can simply because he can. If he can save someone, even if at great cost to himself, he wants to and he cannot help it, even if that means not seeing the bigger picture of saving the world or winning a war. While he wants to live greatly as well and is not suicidal, he would also lay down his life for even a total stranger in an instant if there was no other choice. He has a very low opinion of his own self-worth.
Guilted: Related to said low self-worth... he bears an incredible guilt for the botched reanimation attempt on his adoptive father and bringing him back as a ghoul/zombie. While he would not describe himself as seeking penance through his actions now, the way he carries himself and his actions speak to that. He also tends to absorb responsibility and guilt around him and shoulders even things he arguably should not.
Sensitive: A gentle soul at heart, Allen connects incredibly easily to others and empathizes with them as he is so in touch with his own feelings as well. He bleeds caring for even total strangers, and is very perceptive of them and their feelings. He constantly throughout canon focuses in on small behaviors and things that don't quite add up in a person when it comes to figuring out their motivations and feelings (he did this with Alma when things like his tears didn't make sense in the context of everything else, even in the middle of battle). While he can be a space cadet with details and logic, when it comes to people and why they do what they do and how they feel, he is incredibly perceptive.
Adaptive: No matter what, he will always find a way to survive and continue on without compromising his fundamental truths. Canon constantly grinds him down and forces him into impossible situations, and every single time he finds a way to adapt to every new horror and find a way to be true to himself. He never lets himself be beaten down, even when he's lost everything. Even if it just keeps making him infinitely sadder and more broken inside.

⤛ Canon History: Wiki. I'm setting him as a kind of pre-canon but older blend for AU purpo
⤛ Key History Events:
  • Dhampir lineage from his mother, who died in childbirth. He was abandoned by his grief-stricken father who believed him a bastard (due to his arm) and the cause of his mother's death, and as such he never knew either of his parents.
  • He was an embittered and nameless child on the streets until one day when he encountered a traveling performer and his dog. Distrustful of the man at first, the dog was kind to him, one of the few not apprehensive at the appearance of his left hand, and he befriended him. He warmed up over time to man--Mana--who would slowly charm the boy to open up to him and perform with him in his acrobatics and shows. While never formally adopted, after the dog died Mana took him with him on the road to the next town. The mental stability of his adoptive father is... questionable, but Allen never talks about it and it never mattered to him.
  • Mana died one winter when he was approximately 10 years old (Allen doesn't know his own birthday or year). Devastated, the boy attempted to follow a ritual to bring his father back to life. Without training and without knowing his own close ties with the shadow realm, he succeeded in piercing through, but what he brought back into the body was not his father but a mindless and frenzied spirit, and in reaching into the other realm to try and find his soul encountered that spirit that cursed him. His god-blessed left arm awoke with his life endangered, transforming for the first time and destroying the undead thing he had brought to life. Bleeding and emotionally broken, he was found by a traveling ex-priest that noticed the surge of power.
  • Cross Marian, a mercenary surrounded by many rumors that seemed to surpass what one man could be in a lifetime, took the boy in when he recognized the truth behind his arm and realized he had been cursed--and that it meant the boy had used forbidden magic. Taking him to the nearest ally he could trust to secrecy where he could recover, it took months before Allen was physically, but especially emotionally recovered. When he finally began speaking again, it was much more gently and politely, and he seemed much more fragile than before: he'd adopted the mannerism of his now-deceased adoptive father.
  • Stern and sometimes seeming something of a bully, Cross took the boy in and explained that his arm was a holy weapon, something that meant he was chosen by the gods (whether as a blessing or a curse, he wouldn't tell Allen, just that it was power and power came with obligation and destiny, something he seemed both bitter and sympathetic about). While likely knowing the behind the fact he was blessed by Atromos but a dhampir after nursing him back to health, Cross never told him. Instead, he told him he wasn't the only one like that: that there was a small and secret order of priests who exist to battle shadow creatures and demons, all inhabitants of darker realms that would threaten mortals, The Black Order. The elite core of which were chosen by various gods and blessed with special weapons to fight them—"The Innocent". And that if he wanted to, he could join them. An exorcist.(Whether or not Cross himself was one... Allen would presume so, but out loud only once to a rather unpleasant response.)
  • Allen agreed of course, wanting to make Mana's death and then re-death (as he saw it) mean something, and so his training began. First to learn how to fight, how to track and combat monsters, to serve as warden against the shadow realm leaking over, and how to survive, so that one day when he was ready he might be able to find the Black Order and join. Cross also instilled a harsh caution in him to never touch dark magic or anything to do with necromancy or blood magic again, warning that it could not only deepen the curse but rip open the walls between the shadow and mortal realms. Even if Allen over the years would come to suspect that ex-priest or not, he was learned far too much in necromancy and the forbidden arts himself. But there were so many rumors floating around Cross that he would either encourage or avoid denying, as well as being a vague and enigmatic individual that squirreled out of ever telling a full truth, that it was impossible to tell how much was ever true.
  • One thing he made perfectly clear to Allen however: he had two monsters in him, and that if he didn't learn to master them he'd bring about not only his own destruction, but that of the world around him.

  • When the war broke out, Cross and Allen both tried to stay on the outskirts of it. Neither of them took any relish in wars between the living, though for different reasons. Even so, Cross became more moody and distant as it dragged on, and eventually ditched Allen as he announced his training was completed and he was ready to seek out the Order. And begin to travel and attempt to locate the secretive order of priests Allen did, trying to avoid the war and drawing unwanted attention to himself along the way. Unfortunately, he is naturally drawn to people and can't stand to see injustice or suffering. Befriending some townsfolk while passing through, he was drawn into the fighting when the war caught up to them and died in an effort to protect them.
